For this project, we were introduced to Typography. I as given a copy of text to create three posters in the size of: 160mm by 160mm, 115 mm by 207mm landscape and 245mm by 105 mm landscape.

I started by drawing thumbnails of as many ideas as I could for each poster. I used a blue pencil to act as the guidelines that I would use in InDesign. Once I chose the posters I liked I loaded indesign and started to design them.

We had restrictions to follow on each poster. One needed to have one type family but can have as many variants and sizes as needed. One needed two type faces in two sizes. And the last needed one typeface in only one size.

For my first design which was 160mm by 160mm I used two typefaces with two sizes. My first version of this didn’t look very appealing and after feedback I found that there were lines with just one word so I needed to fix it.

For my second design which was 245mm by 105mm, I used one typeface with one size. From the feedback received, I needed to once again fix the one word lines and the upwards stair case effect I had done with the text. I also needed to fix the date and address to show which was the dominant text (the date).

For my final poster which was 115mm by 207mm I used the one type face in any size. The main issue with this poster was the one word lines again. However, the circle I used on the edge was too harsh with a black line surrounding each one so I needed to edit it.

Working after the feedback I got rid of the black lines on the circle and fixed the one word lines on all of them for the 115mm by 207mm. For the 160mm by 160mm poster I completely redid it. I felt the poster wasn’t an easy fix so I felt better redoing it. I made the title dominant and the entry times dominant so that is what catches the viewer first. I also lined up the text much better as my first version was loose and unaligned. Finally for the 245mm by 105mm poster, I fixed the staircase and made the columns tighter.

From some final feedback, I just needed to tweak the 245mm by 105mm poster again to make the paragraphs wider as they were difficult to read.
